Disney Train to Disney Land - Hong Kong special

disneyland_disney_train1.jpgI knew places in the East were cool, but it wasnt until my girl brought to my attention this cool train especially for Disneyland visitors to Hong Kong. The trains are not exactly new, they started operations with the park way back in 2005 but they still deserve a mention here for their design. The design was done by the MTR engineers who run the local trains in Hong Kong. The train runs four carriages with red-trimmed, Mickey Mouse head-shaped windows, the body painted with intertwining ribbons of gold and “pixie dust”.

The interior is resplendent in bright colours of yellow, red, blue and violet, and is finished with a star field ceiling. Hand-rings have Mickey ears. Instead of drab metal, the seats are comfortable L-shaped sofas in sapphire blue. Completing the theme are vintage photos of Walt Disney, along with bronze statues of Disney characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Jiminy Cricket, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale, Tinker Bell, and Snow White.

The Disneyland Resort Line as it is called caters to only one destination - Disneyland, thus allowing engineers a free hand for the design putting everyone in the holiday mood. Perhaps there shall be more pictures and details when i get to visit Hong Kong.
