Few devices manage to indulge the human passion for beauty and yet generate resources rather than hogging them. If you dont believe me, get any fancy car enthusiast and ask him what kind of mileage his dream car delivers, you are sure to be met with a look of disbelief for even daring to ask such a question. Coming back to the waterwheel, all it needs is a 18" fall of water. This much is enough to generate power to keep your entire house running. Sounds unbelievable, but thats what Ian Gilmarting and Bob Cattley have actaully managed to pull off. We cant think of a better way to show the finger to the OPEC who refuses to have free market pricing in one of the most crucial needs of humanity.
In any case, a commercial version of this water wheel which could be further fine tuned would surely be well appreciated in towns and likes. Especially with programs that allow selling self generated power back to the power grid and thus even generating a profit if you are able to pull it off.
