Worried about the confusion with the different formats of HD DVDs? Well last you heard, it was probably something about Blu-Ray being better being followed by HD DVD being much better and both having gotten some new technologies to improve and perhaps to combat each other even better. Sometimes you may even have heard that some studios are supporting one format over another. All this has resulted in the consumer delaying his decision to purchase a player (yep, there would be seperate players for seperate formats).

And this meant no one won at all. The nearly negligible sales would have resulted in either one competitor to drop out but not here. Finally LG has done the most ingenious thing possible and has come up with the LG BH100 Super Multi Blue Player. This player shall support both formats. The unit supports various A/V formats, including MPEG-2, VC-1, H.264 video, MPEG1/2 audio, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital+, DTS and DTS-HD audio, and includes multiple inputs/outputs such as HDMI out, component/composite video outputs, and optical/coaxial/discrete 5.1 channel audio outputs, among others. LG's Super Multi Blue Player (BH100), available to U.S. consumers during the first quarter of 2007, is expected to sell for about U.S. $1,199.

"By providing a high-definition player that supports both Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD discs, LG is delivering a product that puts the customer first," said Randy Wick, senior vice president and general merchandise manager of consumer electronics at Circuit City Stores, Inc. "We applaud the LG customer-friendly approach, as it will serve to alleviate customers' confusion about the two formats."

LG Electronics' Super Multi Blue dual-format high-definition disc player was awarded the prestigious CNET Best of CES 2007 Award at the International 2007 CES. CNET honored the Super Multi Blue Player, winning the Home Video category, and ultimately the Best in Show.
