Recall the watch phone which NTT DoCoMo promised us would be out in Japan and then perhaps the world and then of course Samsung which realised that such a handset could really be popular and actually even had released a few handsets (recall seeing them on a few people before they mysteriously disappeared) - well this time its a company from the land down under which has decided to try its luck.
Despite widespread agreement amongst geeks that it would be really cool and extremely futuristic to have a real watch phone which would also have most of the other functions, for some reason this accursed invention has never become popular. The company called as SMS Technology (sooo inventive) plans to ship the M300, a tri-band GSM/GPRS wristwatch phone before March in Australia. As truly yours is situated in Ozzie land for the next couple of years, maybe you should bookmark Fashionfunky to get updates on this handset before everyone else.
In terms of features, the wrist phone will have 64 MB memory on board. Due to space restrictions, I am guessing there would not be any expansion slots. We do know that there are MP3 and MPEG4 players on board along with Bluetooth 2.0 compatibility. Costing will be in the region of Australian Dollars 650 (USD 510) and European countries will be targetted in the second quarter of the year.
For a new comer, the company certainly has robust plans. SMS Tech plans to follow up the M300 with a bling bling version made of gold and titanium in June, further followed by a business version (wonder how they will ever fit in all the business features in this form factor - yet they promise to have outlook and office synchronisation at the least) which will be called as the M700 and should be out by the end of the year.
