Philips Xenium NRG eats AAA cells for snacks

philips.jpgPhilips under the guise of The Energizer has tied up with Techtium to produce the AAA BackuPower capable mobile phone. The latest Philips handset, the Xenium NRG(energy) will be able to instantly recharge their phones. A special cavity in the handset will let the user insert a AAA battery which will offer a few extra hours of talktime. Using the Energizer battery extends performance by upto 3 hours of talk time. It does sound like a decent idea. Carrying around the charger everywhere does not make sense and a lot of people do carry dual batteries. For those of us who dont, the possibility of hoping into a store and purchasing a AAA cell which would instantly recharge the cell phone sounds even better.

If you plan to save money on the batteries, than simply let a rechargeable battery stay inside the cavity. When you recharge the handset, it simultaneously recharges the cell as well - acting as a kind of backup thingy.
