ultra_sd_usb.jpgFeaturing whacky inventions day after day kind of makes you loose touch with reality and practical sense. I uttered a squeal of delight when I got to see these SD cards which are so simply wonderful that they let you plug themselves into a USB slot. So all you need to do is pull off the cover and connect it to the USB. Put the cover back, lo and presto its a regular SD card ready to go back into the camera. Like any other USB memory stick, this one needs no drivers and is plug and play.

Named as the Ultra II SD Plus cards, Sandisk promises to ship them from April onwards. Users do have choices of 512 megs and 1 gig. A 2 gigabyte version is being planned for launch in October. Prices are expected to be from $50 to $135. Its something that should have come out a long time ago, no doubt Sandisk has a huge winner on their hands with this little beauty.
