OCZ Trifecta - The SD, miniSD and USB stick rolled into one

trifecta.jpgWith more devices came the issue of buying more accessories. Like the ridiculous time when even if all your devices use the SD format, because of the size (some have SD slots, others prefer microSD) you still end up buying different cards. Companies like OCZ Technology are working hard to remedy this situation. They have created storage devices such as the OCZ Trifecta (the three in one).

Clocky - the misbehaving lil clock

clocky.jpgUnlike most clock who know when to shut up and stay that way, clocky never understood that he is only supposed to make a ruckus and then shut up; he is only a mild interruption in my slumber and not actually manage to wake me up. Unfortunately for me, clocky comes from that rare breed of clocks who think its their *shudder* birth-right to ruin our sleep. Clocky gives me just one chance to get up. If after one snooze attempt, I still havent got up and shut him off completely then this beastly lil clock with some mad scientist equipped with wheels takes off on his own.

The Boombox Cell phone - thunder Super Radio HiFi

boombox.jpg
The first thing that came to my mind when I looked upon this monstrous device is that what if I put it to the ear with the wrong side up? The output looks pretty serious to do some damage. Called as the Thunder Super Radio HiFi , this party animal was spotted at the CTIA.

Boeing and the Fuel Cell Aeroplane

fuelcell_plane.jpg Powering a car with a fuel cell which can continously charge the battery and give us enough range as well as top speed still seems to be some way away, but that hasnt stop the engineers from Boeing who believe that air planes sans fuel must be invented asap. I agree with them on the logic, however I do wonder if 2007 is a bit too early to create planes which could fly on fuel cells. The fuel cell generates electricity to charge the batteries utilising hydrogen and not producing any heat in the process (since there is no combustion).

Volkswagen 2008 Touareg

08_TOUAREG.jpgThe Touareg 2 as this latest model is called, continues to be offered in a choice of 3 engines. However the least that you can opt in for is a 3.2 liter V6 and the highest that can be bought is the 3.6 liter which imparts an additional 40 hp bringing the tally upto 280 hp. Interior changes are slight and the major difference that can be seen is the new grille which has now become a regular on the latest volkswagen offerings. The headlights have got a few more curves in the right places and the tail lamps have been darkened ever so slightly.

Nokia N95 Spycatcher - The ultimate in underhanded tricks

nokia_n95.jpgNot really, I think the ultimate would have been the underwear tracer, but as a guy, who trusts his girl (edit I was forced to add this /edit) its a cool way of keeping track of her as well as some of her details. Besides you only gift lingerie to someone you really know extremely well, giving you a kind of right on that person. But the N95 spy does no such thing. It plays without rules, the only one being that one should be able to afford it in the first place.

Deeda piPhone - Apple iPhone clone #x99

piphone.jpgWhen you wondered like all others on the debut of the Apple iPhone that why should Apple have to be so measly with details, the least they could have done is included more pictures, provided more details - we silently smiled. Apple did so for a reason, reasons rather such as the Deeda piPhone. Knowing how popular the iPhone is promised to be, these guys and they are not alone, want to make a quick buck. In doing so, they copy the form factor, design , even what little we know of the onboard software of the iPhone to garner profits. The best part is that they actually manage to get away with their mischief.

Seiko E-Ink watch

seiko-electronic-ink-watch.jpgA bracelet or a watch, its both the same since watchmakers have used all their creativity since decades to make watches which are more like jewllery to sit fashionably on your womans arms. However its a different ball game when technology comes into play. Using E-Ink is just one of the ways that this is possible but it sure as hell makes for fashionable technology. The high contrast E-ink technology makes for some fabulous viewing of time on the device.

Flash drive your contacts before your cell phone zaps 'em

usb-phone-device.jpgNot a great supporter of these so called backup devices, I got a taste of what the other poor dears were talking about when all I could do to salvage my trustworthy Sony Ericsson P910i was a master reset. Of course things had gotten to the point where salvaging any contacts or those sentimental messages that meant so much to me was a lost cause. The icing on the cake? - the fact that even after the master reset, the handset refuses to work. It means I am stuck with a PDA and will be going in to get myself a new phone.

Adieu Windows XP

windows_xp.jpgAnd so Microsoft has ordained. Just when we got the hang and feel of Windows XP down to a pat, new computers from 2008 onwards will be only available with Windows Vista. This is of course after painstaking research that clearly showed audiences were not yet comfortable with the Vista since it is so different. In fact, only 10% of those polled planned to upgrade.

Nokia 8600 finalised : the ultimate hip phone

nokia_8600.jpgWith news of Apple readying up with the iPhone ; Nokia et al are also rolling up their sleeves in what promises to be the most brutal fight since cell phones were invented for market shares. The Nokia 8600 or the 8600 Luna as it is also called as shall be a Series 40 handset (not the smartest of the lot, thats for sure) with features such as a 2 megapixel camera, a gigabyte of internal memory and a MP3 player (built-in). The Signalling door handle - Brighthandle

door_handle.jpgPutting in road discipline at an early age is one of the ways you would ensure that your young 'un never runs a traffic light. But installing one in your bathroom or bedroom door is taking it a bit too far - exactly the sort of thing that us geeks have been criticised of doing for long. The signalling door handle (which you would find a pain in the butt to install) turns red when the rest room is engaged or the bedroom is (depending on your passion breaks through the day - if you work at home (ok, i am giving away a bit too much about my life now)...

iPhone victim #1 - The Apple Leopard - iPhone release confirmed

apple.jpgAs iPhone nears its release date - yup, Apple just confirmed that they will - truly, madly, deeply - stick to the June release dates , the victim list has begun. This is what we shall call products including handsets that will be victimised due to the iPhone's launch. With the expected sales of the iPhone, it is certain that a lot of other handsets will fall through thus becoming victimised. The tally as of now has begun with Apple's own - The Leopard.

LG KE770 (Lg Shine) to be customisable

lg_shine.jpgIts not so often that customers get the chance to personalise their handset and its often that I have loved some of Samsungs handsets for example only to give them the go since they were always in clamshell form factor. If only the same piece could have been customised for me in , say candybar or slider form. Dream on, you would say but thats precisely what LG has done.

Mouserug - The cosy way to web surfin

mouse_rug.jpgGetting a decent mouse pad seems to be a mission in itself these days. It began with the advent of the optical mice. They seem to be quite particular about the surfaces on which they wish to rest. Got myself some cheap 'Made In China' thingy that called itself a mousepad from Melbourne simply because it was in one of them souveneir shops. My high n mighty mouse simply wont move the pointer on the screen even if I move it a zillion times on the pad. I am using as of now an old dirty brown sheet that somehow my mouse adores. Well, anything that works! The mouse rug seems like a great fashion funky idea.

Electromagnetic hypersensitivity = The maladies of the 21st century

elec-malady.jpgAvid readers of Science Fiction scenarios will always remember that its not the bacteria or viruses that lead to the downfall of the human race but its their own 'servants' the robots who become self aware and thus are responsible for slaving their creators. While nothing so frightful has happened - yet, there certainly are a few clues to guide us that this technology crazy world may be heading towards. Take the case of Mr Stein, 55, chief executive of a £500 million Leicestershire-based chilled food manufacturer that employs 5,000 people who suffers from electromagnetic hypersensitivity.

The Snore stopper that actually works

With Snoring, which we all know by now is unhealthy not just for your relationship but to the snorers health as well ; its the partner who suffers more due to lost sleep. Previous snore stoppers have included wonders like masks and devices that needed to be inserted into the nose and mouth. Irrepsective of whether they worked or not, friends who tried them said they are so good only because they keep you awake all night; its impossible to get a good nights sleep while the damn thing wont let you turn; toss or even sleep comfortably.

Bluetooth Speakers

bluetooth_speakers_left_500_77355.jpgGetting the right accessory with right equipment is such a pain. You need to be sure that this accessory will work with your equipment, if not then you need to return it and re-check whether the fault is with compatibility or there is a driver issue or something. Thats why we loved it when USB cables were invented. The next step is of course to go wireless on a single standard like Bluetooth. These Bluetooth based speakers from Boysstuff may seem expensive at 260 pounds; but stop for a second to think of the benefits offered.

Diesel BMW trounces the 'clean' Prius

bmw%20118d.jpgIf buying the Prius was according to you, the only way to save the environment then think again, and then again. Or at least read the results that have just been issued by AutoZeitung for the BMW 118d vs Toyota Prius. The results were more surprising than you would otherwise care to imagine. Not only did the Prius offer no clear and distinct advantage except slightly lower emissions but it was outperformed easily by the BMW mixed driving fuel economy thanks to its improved combusiton process and particulate filters.

New Ford Fiesta arrives in EU/US in 2008/2009 respectively

ford-reflex.jpgThe mouthwatering new Ford Fiesta will arrive in Europe first, much to the chagrin of American car lovers. Arriving in America in late 2009, the car — based on the new Mazda2 — will be lighter than the current Fiesta and feature a 1.6-liter powerplant. Ford asks you to expect a car with 'trapezoidal grille, pointy headlamps, and pronounced wheel arches' according to the gurus at Leftlanenews.
