solar.jpg The worlds largest solar power plant, one that will be able to generate 40 megawatts of power at its heyday has been announced. the ambitious project which shall beat the current largest solar farm by more than three times (it lies in Germany) has been announced by Silicon Valley startup 'OptiSolar'. The farm plans to provide electricity for 10 to 15 thousand homes at a time. The solar farm will be enormous, stretching across nearly 365 hectares, the equivalent of 419 Canadian football fields.

Germany is also suuposedly working on a solar farm that will be able to produce nearly the same amount of power. Despite these advancements, the chief trouble with solar power remains that it is expensive to produce, much more so than when compared to the cheaper polluting fossil fuel based alternatives. The proposed plant will be the largest on the North American continent and is to be based in Ontario, Canada.
