The 2008 STS got some much deserved media attention today after GM released some details for the press. For 2008, STS will be the first GM vehicle equipped with a new 3.6L direct injection V-6 engine. Coupled to the new V-6 engine will be the 6L50 six-speed automatic transmission. GM's Lane Departure Warning System also debuts on the 2008 STS. Every few months I forget how 'small is wonderful' isnt necessarily true for the poor electronics. While we squeeze more chips into an ever smaller space, the heat generated has nowhere to go. And since consumers dont like the sound that a whirring fan produces, the poor things have to put up with all the heat. Fingerprint recognition is now passe. Funny, I never even got my own finger print recognition security device. Things have already progressed to Iris scans which we are told much more secure than the 'traditional' finger print recognition methods. Specific files can be locked down by this mouse and access to them is granted only after the mouse confirms that it really is you , of course, by scanning your iris. Smart asses who think that they can simply swap the mouse for a normal one and access the file are in for a surprise too.

Refrigerators per se do not attract me enough to get on the pages of Fashionfunky. They certainly are not exciting enough in any sense of the word. But sometimes we do make exceptions. Acer is announcing their latest multimedia laptop computer, the Acer Aspire 5920. The new laptop is of course courtesy Santo Rosa chipset from Intel which has seen almost all the major manufacturers come out with announcements. The system uses a 15.4” Acer CrystalBrite LCD display that has a 8ms response time and helps cut glare in all conditions. NVIDIA provides the video for the system with a GeForce 8600M-GT graphics card with 256MB of VRAM and DirectX 10 support.

Not everyone is like HP , happy to come out with players that would play both Blu-Ray and HD DVDs, some like Pioneer still believe in taking sides. As a consumer, I owuld probably prefer to buy a player that can play everything that I put in rather than be bothered by which format is my personal favorite. I will leave it to the giants to battle it out, I meanwhile want to enjoy my movies without bothering about the technical part every time. The Pioneer BDC 2202 is going to retail for $299 and will only play Blu-Ray discs.

My favorite family, The Simpsons is finally heading to the PS3. I am such a big fan of the series that its a standard joke, if not anywhere else, yours truly will be found on the couch opposite the nearest television tuned to Channel 10 at precisely 6 p.m. daily. Bart and Homer's chemistry is just too good to be true. Now before I harp on about the series, the game comes as a result of the deal between Fox and Electronic Arts. You of course, get to play as Bart.

We just dug up some information on the Sony Ericsson S500i. This wonderful green goblinish slider (it has a black and green color design) is aimed at the fashionably hip crowd, the perfect product to get featured on fashionfunky. First came the wrist-bands that were to show that you support charity, they became such a fashion statement that every Tom Dick n Harry was wearing them on the streets, even the guys who didnt know that Charity starts with a 'C'. But after seeing and drooling over the iPhone, it doesnt look so smart no more. In fact I only like these bulky creatures when Blackberry releases them. It seems to all fit with everything else when Blackberry makes them, the others feel like cheap imposters. The Motorola Q9 would not win any prizes for its good looks but it would be a good contender for the 'biggest looser' title in terms of bulk of course. The handset itself, the Motorola Q9 is in truth a smart phone in terms of its capabilities.

Sony Ericsson at it yet again, I did love candybar ice creams when I was a kid, in fact my favorite one was a strawberry candy with vanilla inside. Now if you havent run off after the ice cream wagon and are still reading then what I was leading upto is that obviously Sony Ericsson guys love candybars much more than I did. To be released in China this summer, these two beauties are stunners. We carried details of the M70 yesterday, so we should concentrate on the U50 for today. The U50 has a petite slim design which even allows the user to put it standing up on a plain surface. Its even available in pink if thats what the lady has demanded recently. Recall the Samsung F300? The same hyped music phone which had Samsung sign on Beyonce for more publicity? I liked the F300 for its unique approach. Unlike the clamshells and sliders that we are so attuned to ; the F300 is the 'sider' phone. Each side stands for something unique. Flip over to the other side for a Samsung mobile phone that has built its reputation on quality, functionality, and usability.

And thats not just a rumor, BBC UK actually did a study that found Wi-fi networks in schools can give off three times the height of the signal radiation of phone masts. This is another one that I was waiting for, the Helio Ocean to be reviewed in detail. Thats right, if you read before about the LUMIX DMC-FX100 from Panasonic then I mentioned that the latest race in the camera world is the 'me too' to be in the 12 megapixel list. Casio actually beat Panasonic to the entree with its Exilim Zoom EX-Z120. As geeks we make use of our USB ports in a manner that most non geeks (muddles) dont even dream of knowing.
