Apple goes green

green_apple.jpgPersonally I always preferred green apples, especially from Granny Smiths, they are much more juicy and in general tastier then the bright red ones. It seems Steve Jobs agrees with me. And rather than going to Grannie Smiths, he is going greener by announcing that his company would stop using toxic and hazardous chemicals in manufacturing. Other plans by Apple which have gotten it a back pat from Green peace include removing arsenic in displays by the end of 2008.

By the same date it will stop using polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and brominated flame retardants (BFRs).

In early April Greenpeace put Apple bottom of its rankings of green electronics firms. The company's headquarters and conferences have been picketed by banner-waving activists calling on Apple to be greener.

Of course the green heads are not completely satisfied and they claim there is a lot of lost ground for Apple to cover. Not that I am complaining, as I always said, with Apples; its greener the better.
