Unlike the ingot USB hub which was obviously fake, The Gold iPod is made from real 24K gold , which has been hardened. Obviously since gold, as we all know from out basic science lessons is a soft metal and would really not withstand the daily wear n tear that most iPods have to go through. The black or white front remains the same, its the back which gets replaced with gold. The 80 gig video iPod with the Gold back would set you back by about $598.
You also have the option of just getting a gold back and screwing it on yourself and that would cost about 400$ for the video iPod and $300 for the nano.
