Beer shows finger to Oil: Homer was right all along

If we all went Homers way and guzzled a few beers every night than the brewery waste water acted upon by the sugar consuming bacteria would be enough to generate plenty of clean energy. No wars for oil either. The microbial fuel cell which is being worked upon in Australia by the University of Queensland has support from the Fosters brewery in Brisbane.

'Essentially, the cell will consume brewery wastes such as sugar, starch, and alcohol, while producing clean electricity by harnessing the energy released from the organic materials coming in. The device is expected to produce two-kilowatts of power.'
