Hubble successor: James Webb Space Telescope
May 13, 2007

jw1.jpgJust a few days after convincing us that they are looking forward to getting back on the moon, NASA comes up with this extremely well designed successor to the Hubble. Gigantic when compared to the Hubble, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) will allow humans to peer into the depths of space like never before.

Officials said the JWST - named after a former Nasa administrator - was on course for launch in June 2013. The full-scale model is being displayed outside the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in the US capital, Washington DC.

The JWST shall cost NASA USD 4.5 bn and will sit farther away from the earth. In comparison to the Hubble, the JWST is almost 3 times as large. The James Webb telescope shall be launched by the European Ariane rocket when it is ready
