Nintendo Wii ; just one and a half Gamecubes? hits 6 million sales

gamecube.jpgWhile we along with the rest of the world go ga-ga over the Nintendo Wii , truth is that Nintendo has given us a raw deal. In terms of processing power the Wii is less than the original Xbox. So are we complaining? Not at all, the Wii was not meant to be the highest graphic rendering machine in any way. In their mindset of 'powerful is better' ; game makers had forgotten that games are all about having fun. Nintendo proved that with the success of the Wii which mainly depended on the Wii-mote and completely altered the face of gaming in the short time that it has been here.

However it was Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division who started this discussion. And to give him credit, his points did hit the bulls eye for his claims were actually true. Nintendo has never released the actual technical specifications of the Wii.

In other news on the Wii, we got news that Nintendo is not just doing well but fabulously great with sales of the Nintendo DS and of course the Wii. DS sales have now reached 40 million globally. The handheld has shifted 11 million units in Europe, 3.1 million of which were sold in the UK. Since it's release in November last year, Wii has amassed 5.84 million sales globally. European sales accounted for 1.3 million units and UK sales for 438,000.

This is one company that is having trouble setting realistic targets, it constantly beats them.
