Iris recognition security for cell phones

iris_recognition_software.jpgFor the really paranoid amongst us, first there was Fingerprint recognition. While I dont think there is any way to get around that kind of security, technology progresses and what we have now is Iris detection systems. Both of these have been around for some time. while fingerprint recognition made it to cell phones more than a year back (in the East of course) ; its now the turn of iris recognition technology.

The technology which can run on either Symbian or Windows based phones lets the user register his iris with the help of the onboard camera. the cell can then be unlocked only by using the same iris. Chances of faulty detection or your handset ending up locked are extremely minute according to the Japanese company which developed the product.

Personally, I dont see why would someone have something so important in their cell phones that mere password protection cannot protect.
