More fodder from Canon’ stable -- the company has announced two new PowerShot A-series compact cameras -- the “12.1 Megapixel A650 IS” and the “8 Megapixel A720 IS”. It is great news for first timers and families having tons of amateurish photographers. While PowerShot A650 IS is designed keeping in mind the brigade of photo enthusiastic first timers -- PowerShot A720 IS is for families who are busy but still take time out to click pictures for memories sake.
The A650 IS provides a resolution of 12.1 Megapixel, a 6x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization and 21 shooting modes. All this is navigated via a mode dial and viewed via a 2.5-inch LCD screen. A720 IS comes with 8 Megapixel resolution, optical image stabilization and VGA recording. One can save both still shots and video clips. This camera also has great number of creative shooting modes, a simple control layout and an ergonomically correct grip.

Available in silver and black colors, both the cameras feature a grip for natural fit and stable handling. If you are interested in clicking when you are at a beach or underwater -- both camera comes with optional cases, which are waterproof at depths up to 130 feet.
PowerShot A650 IS is more expensive and is priced at around $400, the PowerShot A720 IS will cost you around $250. Practice creates a perfect shot, it is a good buy if you are still not sure how to use or handle a camera -- and this one does not offer you less but has plenty to make sure you learn the right way and then move to better equipped more advanced camera.
