Nikon seems to be on an expansion spree. L-series gets two new additions – the 7-megapixel Coolpix L14 and 8-megapixel L15. What is it about giving birth to twins, why not be more adventurous and add triplets or be extra adventurous and add quadruples, anyways, not our concern. What interests us is, what makes L14-15 different and we are quite disappointed as these cameras are low on price and low on features, nothing new to highlight.
It seems to be targeted at the beginners, school/college-going kids, or the ones who like opening up their camera to see how it functions. What all are there, Nikon’s very own Expeed image processing technology, the face recognition up to five faces (unlike Coolpix 15 faces), image stabilization, 15 different scene modes, in-camera red-eye fix, and D-Lightning function (to correct underexposed faces).
The major difference between the two is in the LCD screens, while L14 has a 24-inches screen, the L15 sports a 2.8-inches. Otherwise, both come with 3x optical zoom and up to ISO 1000, and runs on AA batteries. The L14 is priced at 150 and L15 is all yours for $180, and will be available in September
