The brand new MacBook is still to hit the shelves, but the blogoshere is abuzz with speculative spoilers. 9to5mac is speculating that the new Apple baby will ship out minus dvd player. The reasons provided are: the ubiquitous use of usb stick for offline storage; the online backup options cutting down the need for DVD-R back-ups; people more and more are downloading music and video over the internet than using DVD or CD. According to other blogs, the new Mac is slimmer than MacBook Pros and weighs less; keyboard is similar to Apple's new Bluetooth Keyboard.

The so called weighing less feature might be due to giving DVD player a skip, and we can hope a longer battery life. But, the new macbook seems to be targeting minuscule users (thought it might not be the scenario in the near future---they are fast becoming a majority), who are totally online dependent---what happens to the like of us who use DVD player for software installation, games, to watch movies and play songs. May be Macbook has an answer for it too---there are other models catering your interest. However, we will let you know more when the product is unveiled officially or someone innocently leaks the information.
