In an attempt to regain its lost market territory, Dell is planning to open a retail chain of high quality stores in UK, next year. While it is boom time for the leader HP, Dell has been going through bad times, profits dipping and a 6.9 percent decline in its market share. Dell CEO, Kevin Rollins had stated, “We could possibly try a number of markets, particularly where we have a fairly large consumer base, and the UK is on of those.”
Recently, Dell for the first time started selling computer through Wal-Mart in America---letting go its 23 years track record of built to order direct-sales strategy in US. A smart move, considering Acer is all set to takeover Gateway and will try to topple Dell from its second position.
