Stolen Property Tattoo

Laptops are prized possessions, and as they are becoming ubiquitous and compact, the chances of someone stealing them have increased. Next time, when you take your precious lappy on a real mobile journey, get yourself a Stop-Lock. It is a barcode bearing, an identifiable sticker, which sticks to your machine cloak and when someone tries to remove it forcibly, the cloak gets its permanent imprint/tattoo, which states—“Stolen Property” along with a phone number to call at.

You apply the sticker using an adhesive, which creates a bond that requires 800 pounds of effort to undo. The receiving end of the sticker contains a locking cable; one can hook the machine using that to something unmovable, making it difficult for a person to steal your notebook.

The blemish makes it difficult for the thief to sell of your machine. However, if he has stolen your laptop for a bigger game, the sticker won’t be of much help. He will get his documents and dump your useless to him machine.

My guess is, removing an imprintwon’t be that difficult, and thieves are smart people. Even if it is difficult---with so many sticker laden laptops in the market, it won’t take time to figure out how to sell one without anyone noticing it.
