Five new notebooks (just imagine when notebooks will be more than the number of users) make their entry in the lucrative laptop ring. The new entrants are Atlantis PRO, Atlantis, Artorius PRO, Ares PRO and Ares. These Vigor Gaming Computer’s laptops are a mix of gaming laptops and high performance conventional models. There is a no question asked stance that desktops are the natural ally for a computer game, but that is not stopping companies from packing up notebooks for gamers. Let’s see what this newcomer offers, and how will it differ from the rest.
The largest one out of the bunch, Atlantis PRO sports a 20-inch widescreen 1680×1050 display and is equipped with AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile processor -- which is accompanied by up to two NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics processors in SLI configuration. It also features 250GB hard drives, providing a total of 500GB of storage capacity. This laptop’s HDDs can operate in RAID 0 and RAID 1 mode. You can buy Atlantis Pro for approximately $2,799.
Intel Core 2 Duo or the Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor powers the 17-inch 1920×1200 display, Atlantis. Like Atlantis PRO, it has single or dual GeForce Go 7950 GTX options. It is equipped with three hard drives having 750GB capacity. The Atlantis supports RAID 0, 1, and 5 HDD modes, and has a price tag of approximately $2,419.
Another 17-inch 1920×1200 widescreen laptop is Artorius PRO, this one features the Intel Santa Rosa notebook platform and a single NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT video card. It is equipped with up to 250GB of storage capcity. The approx price of this laptop is $1925.
Ares PRO comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo or the Core 2 Extreme X6800 desktop CPUs, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics card, and is equipped with up to 250GB HDD. It sports a 15.4-inch widescreen 1680×1050 display and you need to shell out around $1,899 to owe it.
The most affordable among the five, Ares -- sporting a 15.4-inch 1280×800 or 1680×1050 display -- has a price tag of approximately $1299. Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors and the NVIDIA’s GeForce 8600M GT power it.
The common features for all the five are, 8X DVD+/-R/RW optical drive, built-in wireless LAN and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, a TV tuner with optional remote, a built-in video camera from 1.3 to 2.0 megapixels depending on the model, Hi-def 3D digital audio, memory expandable to 4GB on all models, a 56K modem, and the Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit preloaded with the original DVD.The three from the bunch -- Artorius PRO, Ares PRO and Ares notebooks -- have inbuilt fingerprint readers.
