Hey ! What Volvo has in store to amaze everyone in Frankfurt Auto Show? A luxurious sedan, an SUV, or……... go on and on and on churn out your heads. But you might not get it, because it is something beyond your imagination. It is state-of–the-art plug-in hybrid technology called ReCharge Concept that no one had heard earlier. Just having a word hybrid, you might end up thinking it to be a conventional hybrid vehicle. But no the ReCharge is totally electric car, which features four wheel electric motors, batteries and four-cylinder 1.6 Flexifuel engine. It runs totally on batteries, and if batteries get discharged, fuel engine charges up the batteries. The batteries get charge-up with any electric socket. The full charged batteries could take you till 63 miles. So, if you need to go within 63miles periphery in day you don’t need to visit any fuel station. While on drive, if the electric charge of the batteries gets consumed up to 70 percent, the four-cylinder 1.6 Flexifuel engine comes into action for charging the batteries.
The more surprising thing of the car is, it emits 66 per cent lesser emission in comparison to the fuel engine driven cars. The emissions could be lowered further by using carbon dioxide friendly sources like biogas, hydropower and nuclear power. Since the ReCharge runs on batteries, it is light on wallet too. In comparison to fuel run cars, it’s operating cost is 80 per cent lesser.
The performance of the car is also unbelievable, despite being an electric car, it takes acceleration from 0-62mph within nine seconds. The top speed of this electric car is 100mph.
From my point of view, more advanced ReCharge gives more value of money, more convenience and more comfort. So, if considering to buy a vehicle, it is advisable to give it a thought.
