BMW is on the way to repeat its glories history by launching its twin turbo diesel drivetrain in U.S. The success of the drivetrain in European market is an open secrete. Everyone knows how dependent the Europeans are on the diesel powered drivetrains. Encouraged by the success, now this German company has decided to target the U.S. market for making killing. Well this the best way to counter ever rising prices of ‘favorite’ fuel.
Which model will have the diesel engines is still to be declared by the stable. But since 335d and 535d sedans, and the 635d coupe will be available for test drives of the engine, it seems that these cars would surely have diesel engines. The main attraction of the engine would be its efficiency. Combined cycle tests have resulted that this diesel engine yields 35mpg (6.7L/100km), while its counterpart 335i’s six-cylinder petrol motor could barely manages to scores 20mpg.
