T of the computer industry, Toshiba, seems to be moving against the lighter weight notebooks tide. The company is not going to dump bulkiness and go the Vaio way of designing lighter weight sophisticated notebooks. This was more evident at the Digital Life, New York, where it showcased its latest machine---one of the Qosmio G45 laptop. This next generation, 17-inches, G45 machine is a full entertainment system and sports a high definition 1080p WUXGA screen.

For the gaming aficionados, it is equipped with NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics card, and also comes with HD-DVD Player, surround sound system, TV Tuner. What more can you ask for, all in one entertainment companion when you are on the move. This Toshiba bulky baby runs on Intel Core 2 Duo processor at 2.0 GHz, 2GB of RAM, and has a 320 GB of standard storage capacity.
It might be massive in size but it is in no way decreasing its aesthetic appeal, it has a cool covering and features a glossy white palm rest. The keys of the keyboard are not crammed, and the bright blue LED lighten up all the soft media buttons---if you do not like LED, you can switch it off.
It has one of the best 4.1 speaker set-up; the main speaker is located right above the keyboard, with two smaller speakers located on either side of the LCD, and it also features a subwoofer.
The biggest draw back is its battery life, 2 hours and 40 minutes. That is quite insufficient when you are paying a cool $3,099. It is directly competing with Dell’s XPS M1730. For me Dell wins this particular race, but yes if you are looking for a better economical gaming machine, Toshiba’s Satellite version is a better bet.
