One often hears and reads about such construction projects going on around the world. But one, that certainly includes me does not think of Istanbul as the likely place for such construction. Usually its Dubai, but not this time. This one upon completion should become the second underwater hotel in the world, the distinction of being the first goes to Poseidon hotel in Fiji.
What we have here is an under water hotel on what was previously a tobacco factory. I can think of several uses of tobacco factories, easiest amongst which is to incinerate them completely but I think this one makes much better business sense.
The Istanbul hotel differs in that it is being built under the city center, which should make for an interesting experience. The hotel will be a seven star one with all rooms having a sea view.
The hotels inauguration is set to coincide with the city’s taking over from Linz, Austria as the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010.
