Frankly I am quite sick with all the companies coming out with their own IMs. It becomes a pain in the butt to organise all your co-workers, friends and relatives when each person insists on using his or her IM and to top it all off claims its the best because of some stupid additional feature which none of the others have. My personal favorite is MSN but I wont digress into why its the best.

To put it simply, its not the best but its certainly the one I am most compfortable with. This does mean that I dont stay in touch as much with the folks on Yahoo since I believe that is one slow piece of junk. As if these two were not enough, Facebook is proposing to get its own IM service.

The Facebook IM will just like G Chat, allow users logged in to their facebook to directly chat with their friends rather than asking them to download any software.

I wonder if this is going to bring back the craze of the ICQ days when the shorter number proved the more geeky you were. Hope not, personally I believe projects such as the Digsby become popular putting this stupid competition to an end and making our lives ismpler by allowing us to contact everyone on any network.
