I knew burglars were supposed to be dumb. After all the Victorian burglars passed out with Sherlock Holmes. Anyone with half a wit can make their living with electronic thefts and not literal burglaries. So it falls to the dumbest ones to do the deeds.
Proof being that stick shift cars have been found to be attracting less burglars than their automatic counterparts. The why was resolved when it was found most burglars did not know how to drive such cars. Frank Singleton, a would-be Florida carjacker, who incidentally had just been released from jail, tried to pry a Nissan 350ZX away from a young woman who was visiting the jail, only to find out the car had a stick shift, and he couldn't drive it. As he was trying to figure out to drive it, the police nabbed him. He never got out of the jail's parking lot.
It gets better. When asked why he did it, he said he simply did not feel like walking. The cops had a different mind though, they walked him right back to his cell.
