Budget computers are here to stay, we knew that and now it seems the manufacturers are waking up to the possibility as well. Of course they are not too enthused about it since the profit margins on low cost laptops are obviously low. But given the prospect of loosing out market share, they are being forced to wake up to this new reality.
After HP, its now Dell who has decided to go in for a low budget lappie. The low budget laptops which shall be manufactured by Compal Electronics aims to ship 1 million to 2 million low-cost notebook computers to Dell in 2008.
Since no more details are available we can only guess that its going to have the bare minimum of hardware and perhaps Windows XP as well? At this rate XP is going to be well around by the time Windows Ultimate launches.
