The arguments over the congestion charges in the city of London between Mayor Lvingstone and Porsche continue. Porsche has now come up with this amazing argument which claims that the congestion charge will increase ; yea you read that right, Increase the amount of CO2 by 182,000 tonnes.
Hang on. Isnt not driving cars, the best way to ensure that CO2 levels reduce? Apparently not, since the Mayor did not factor in the additional amount of usage by people who will go around the city to avoid the congestion charges.
By 2012, research shows that in Outer London the increase in CO2 will be nearly 184,000 tonnes, with just 2,200 tonnes saved in Central London giving a net increase of 182,000 tonnes. The report indicates that the increase is largely caused by increased car mileage outside of the congestion charging zone as a result of the new charge. These findings directly contradict both Mayor Livingstone’s and TfL’s claims.
We will return in round 3943 of Mayor Livingstone v/s Porsche in a few minutes. Until then head on to more interesting news.
