This blog is sounding more and more like city specific news rather than the global entity that its supposed to represent. But its just that some interesting news are happening on local fronts which we absolutely must write about. So after the NY congestion charge and the LA free hybrid parking repeal; we have DC with cleaning street cum ticket generating machines.
The city has plans to install cameras on street sweepers, cameras that'll take pictures of the license plates of every car parked in its path for the issuing of tickets.
The plot is simple yet absolutely cost effective. It wont cost a cent more since it doesnt send anyone out of the way. And the cost of the cameras is easily recuperated once you take into account the fines that can be collected from offenders.
I just do hope that this doesnt mean meter maids are outdated. I dont think I could sweet talk a machine out of a ticket.
