Hard Disk Drives as they are (traditional style with moving parts et. al) have really outlived their lives. While memory (flash), motherboards have been constantly upgraded, the format of hard disk drives did not change. Finally we hoped with the advent of SSDs that this would change; that hard disk drive crashes as we are accustomed to would become a thing of the past. Apple gave its Air users an option to go in for the SSD. So was going to Toshiba with the Dynabook SS RX1.

But it seems the traditional HDDs have an ace up their sleeve. They are not ready to go down without a fight. The Dynabook which would have made Toshiba the first manufacturer with 128 GB SSD drives may not launch at the preset time because of a parts shortage.

According to sources , these parts relate to the SSD drives themselves. Samsung is planning to come out with its own SSD drives later this year. At present only Dell and Apple have notebooks with 64 GB SSD both of which use parts from Samsung.

Any serious delays are bound to affect Toshibas reputation adversely.
