Doom 4 has been announced by ID software. What makes this already interesting news all the more exciting is the fact that ID software has promised to develop this game in-house. The company has not released an internally-developed game since 2004's Doom 3; it is currently also working on the Mad Max-esque post-apocalyptic shooter Rage.
While ID did not mention consoles, one can likely assume that the PS3 and Xbox 360 shall be definitely targetted. No Wii-lovers, this is not your cup of tea. They have not given any other details such as when we can expect the final release or even an early glimpse of this game.
Doom lovers who had their fingers crossed for long can now finally relax and prepare themselves for the assault of Doom 4.
