These golf ball sized speakers which go on sale in Japan next month measure just 43 millimeters, or 1.7 inches, on each side. Sony has not given out any more details about these small on size but big on sound speakers but the 90,000 yen (US$870) system includes five golf ball-sized speakers as well as a bigger, 440 millimeters (17 inches) tall box for the amplifier and subwoofer, a feature for producing bass sounds.

Sony has used an entirely new technology for getting speakers of such a small size but claims that details of this tech cannot as yet be disclosed. The tiny speakers certainly wont be left behind by their larger size counterparts when it comes to output. The speakers will be able to connect to home theatres, gaming systems (read Playstation) and television sets.
