Solar Powered Boats

Posted by Funkyguy on May 28, 2008 8:40 AM

Just like in the good ol days of Captain Hook and his pirate laddies , when the only power was generated by the sails and the current; boats of the future are all set to remove their dependency from oil. The solar powered boat though wont leave you at the mercy of the sea as were the sailors of yore. A good example of such a boat would be the Czeers MK1.

The power it generates from the sun allows it to hit speeds of up to 30 knots, or about 35 miles per hour. Boat engines are known for their oil thirstiness and something that wont put a weekly hole into your budget (provided you take her out every weekend) sounds just too good to be true. At the same time you are also doing your bit for the planet by avoiding any greenhouse gas emissions.
