This solar light is perfect for use in gardens or garages especially where the builder forgot to put in a power point. Even if not, these are environmentally friendly; and given that they would be in a position to absorb the suns goodness all day long, it does feel bad to let it all go to waste. Given that it lights up for 60 seconds at a time and has a motion detector its not the perfect solution for long term lighting. But it is excellent for use as a security light since it functions even when the mains are cut.
