Remote controls for cars have been available since a few years, but its only recently that car manufacturers started including them as standard in a lot of vehicles. These remotes with their 2000 feet range help in making your real car behave like a kids R/c car. The advantages that such systems offer are numerous ranging from beating the heat (it can roll down the windows a bit as well as switch on the airconditioning just before you plan to leave) to beating the thief.

Unlike other smart systems that routinely get disabled by thieves, these tie into the controller area network - something that would require car thieves to get a masters degree in electronics before they can defeat it.
The car even sends back a message to the controller telling the owner that the alarm has gone off. And with a 2000 feet range that includes having a range through buildings, these are the next generation of intelligent cars. Among the most sophisticated of these is an after-market system produced by Directed Electronics, a San Diego-area car-alarm manufacturer. It can unlock doors, sound the horn and start up music.
Unless you like to hang off cliffs in true Tom Cruise style requiring your car to haul you up by its winch then the Viper can do that too. Other then that I dont see these functions being used much unless of course the neighbours dog has made a habit of peeing on your car - you could set up watch and have the alarm and music system go off in tandem. Its a pity I cant use it on my elderly neighbours pets, it would be the neighbour who would have to be dragged home rather then his pet ; defeating the very purpose of my watch.
