Of the several iPhone Killers , only two in my opinion have the skills or clout necessary to get even close to the Apple handset. These are the Samsung Instinct and the Blackberry Bold, in no particular order. Research in Motion has not taken kindly to Apples infringement of what it believes to be its turf.

In fact with the latest iPhone 3G, its clear that Apple wants to bring in corporate users into its fold, something that RIM has held an almost monopoly over for so long.

Unfortunately the date in question, July 29th, is only a date of local launch. Put in simple words, its when the media and RIMs resellers get to see the handset. Considering that most Australian networks are completely 3G compliant, the latest rumours of a further delay should not be applicable down under as in the US of A.
