Bulletproof Fashion

Posted by Funkyguy on July 28, 2008 2:24 PM

In terms of safety, mankind has never before been in an age where personal security was more at risk. Maybe in the stone age we were, but at least we had our caves and trusty old clubs to whack the odd carnivore that strayed in. When the danger is amongst our own brethren, you never know when a complete stranger whips out a knife and threatens to stab you unless you hand over your cash.

While doing so is advisable ; in most cases it still doesnt protect you from getting stabbed.

You could of course go around wearing Kevlar everyday and look like a complete dork until someone did stab or shoot you ; and then you could point out that it was justified. Or you could just go to Miguel Caballero, the world's only producer of designer bulletproof fashion.

His new collection includes blazers, raincoats and suede jackets, some replete with a comforting stab-proof lining. Customers get to select from three levels of ballistic protection. For instance, a polo shirt that can withstand a slug from a 9-mm revolver costs roughly $7,500; a version for about $9,800 protects wearers from automatic weapons, including mini-Uzis.

At the very least it will save you from the daggers of the fashion police if you messed up getting the perfect color combination for the day.
