Electric Car goes 150 miles for 2 hours charge and pays you back in cash

Posted by Funkyguy on July 8, 2008 3:17 PM

So far scientists have always struggled with making batteries that are large enough (that take too long to charge) or are smaller (charge more quickly) but go too short a distance to be of any practical value. However a graduate student at the University of Delaware created an electric car that may just be the solution. This car goes about 150 miles after being charged for just 2 hours .

Clearly thats not just the winning formula. How about a car that actually pays you to drive it? Make that Park it . The students also created a vehicle to grid technology. When you plug the car in, it actually becomes a storage device for the power grid.

The power company would actually pay you to store their power in your car until they need it. That could add up to about $2,500 to $5,000 a year the power company would pay the driver back.

The car which is not to be confused with a hybrid , goes about 3 cents to a mile, when compared with a gas vehicle that might go between 10 and 12 cents a mile. The students are currently working on making the technology cheaper so as to be used in normal cars.
