Markets outside India which have always been considered by Tata Motors Chairman Ratan Tata, as where the real war over pricing will be fought, shall be handled by Fiat. Tata Motors chairman himself claimed that they are considering a partnership with Fiat for marketing the Nano in countries where Fiat already enjoys a strong presence. The statement was made at a forum promoting cooperation between Italian and Indian companies.
However its unlikely that Fiat would sell the Nano in the United States. The Nano which will have major upgrades in terms of safety (and pricing) in order to be ready for sale in developed nations would still enjoy a major price advantage over its rivals. However it is extremely likely that Europeans would get to see the Nano from Fiat prior to it reaching American shores.

Fiat already has a joint venture with Tata to manufacture and distribute cars, engines and commercial vehicles.
