While we read about aweterproof gadgets almost daily, these claims are watered down when really put to test. Some backtrack that waterproof simply meant splash proof whereas others attempt to delude you by giving more complicated technical answers. Well to put simply, waterproof means able to work even when drowned in water. At least thats what we were taught in school.

Thankfully, not everyone is playing the part of the fradulent salesman pushing his luck to make a sale. Take the Golden Shellback waterproof coating for example. The process involves applying the coating to your precious toys inside a vacuum, after which they're basically impervious to all liquids -- in one test, a coated device spent over 450 hours powered on and functional underwater.
Of course making it so tightly waterproof means that you simply cant remove the coating when you want - it involves some rather harmful procedures which would leave a mark on to your device. It should be good for Apple products though. Considering that they dont allow us to do anything even as mundane as replace batteries.
