Given that the iPhone has been called by one and all as a data device first and a cell phone second, it comes as no surprise that given the popularity of the handset, virus makers are already going overboard to be the first to be able to wreak havoc on the device. The pack which is meant for Mac OS X is also able to scan the iPhone for viruses. For those smart alecs who think that Macintosh computers are immune to viruses, this may come as news. Its not exactly perfect given that the iPhone cant load the software on itself and its not a deterrent. However fact remains that the cell phone hasnt proved easy to hack or write viruses for. Even a year after launch, the iPhone has only one reported Malware. Things may change with the SDK becoming public but fears are yet to be realised. McAfee is also working on a similar software.
