As a person who has been living down under for quite some time now, I am afraid I have been left with no other choice then to ask Macintosh users around the globe and particularly those down under to unite against this bias. The Australian Tax Office or ATO as it is popularly called has refused to allow Mac users to file their tax returns online.
The ATO has failed to provide a Mac-supported version of its popular e-tax program, which 1.9 million Australians used to lodge their tax returns last financial year.
The only option for Mac owners who still wish to use their own computer to file the return is to spend about 150$ for software that emulates a recommended Windows operating system.
While the exact figure of Mac users in Australia is unknown, the Asia Pacific region (in which Apple includes Australia) had a growth of 74 percent in terms of Apple products sold. An ATO spokesman only suggested that people who couldnt use e-tax on their own computer could make an appointment to use one of the ATO's at a branch.
