Rogers caves in to blogger pressure

Posted by Funkyguy on July 10, 2008 2:58 PM

Canadian iPhone provider Rogers has finalled caved in to pressure from bloggers and angry Canadians who were looking forward to becoming iPhone owners. The ridiculous pricing plans still stand but Rogers has launched a so called promotional offer to soften the impact. About 6 GB of data is on offer now for an additional 30$ CAD. The promo will be available for iPhone buyers who activate with a three year contract before August 31.

They have also announced special arrangements starting from 8 a.m. on launch day (July 11) such as free breakfast for those who are waiting in queue. Right, so the free breakfast is supposed to take the anger away from Rogers? eh, may just work with the Canadians!?

If you wonder how bad Rogers plans could be, the iPhone is only available on a 3 year contract. Basically, $199 + 36months x $90 = $3440 and thats if you buy the cheap one. Even after paying this, the amount of data and voice pretty much sucked making consumers feel that Rogers did not give a damn since being a monopoly it could effectively say take it or leave it.
