Its electronics that we use in our everyday life that are responsible for filling up most of the electronic landfills. Things such as perfectly good computers, laptops and of course cell phones.

Since most of us love to change our phones every year or two ; ever spared a thought for what happens to the older ones? Yup, they go straight to the landfill unless some recycling charity has managed to get hold of your handset (provided its in good usable condition) and utilised it once more. However while this still happens, its unfortunately an extremely small percentage of phones which can get recycled.
Clearly the solution lies in another direction. Samsung has definitely got some ideas as to what this may be. The Samsung SCH-W510 is the first mobile phone to be made out of bio-plastic materials. The W510 is already available in South Korea, in two color versions: a black one and, of course, a full-green one.
The plastic used in Samsung W510 is obtained from corn, literally. Moreover, the phone doesn't include hazardous metals like Lead, Cadmium or Mercury. These are the reasons why the Korea Eco-Products Institute has awarded the handset a green label, making it the first Korean handset to get this award.
Unfortunately Samsung has no plans as of now to introduce this phone into other markets worldwide. Its being popularly called as the Corn phone. The corn phone doesnt skimp on high end features either.
The SCH-W510 or the Corn phone has even got a 3 Megapixel camera with flash and video recording, a QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) display, mobile TV capabilities, CDMA and HSDPA connectivity for data transfer speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, secondary camera for video calls, Music and Video players and Bluetooth.
