$30 Million and counting: First Month Tally for App store

Posted by Funkyguy on August 12, 2008 4:16 PM

Thats right, Mr. Jobs just spilt the beans on the collections of Apples App store after month 1. Revenues were a healthy USD $30 million. Considering that Apple gets to store 30% of their collection without having to really produce anything ; shares in Apple are looking an extremely good investment.

With the iPhone yet to arrive in countries such as India, Russia and China ; the App stores popularity is only set to increase. While its only Free Apps that have been downloaded primarily till date , its probably because users are still getting to see how it all works out - as are developers. Total downloads were in the area of 60 million. Things can only get better from now on.

Of course there have also been speculations that with the kill switch and all Apple has made the iPhone less stable than the Windows Mobile ; its nothing but criticisms that are based on flimsy allegations. The iPhone has had its fair share of teething trouble, but Apple has made it a point to be on top of everything so far so you really cant blame them.

The App store can only be said to be a stupendous success as more and more developers are queuing up to be a part of this store.
