What happens when online game creators piss off a pair of influential parents (of a kid who who tired of the online game)? Why it results in the formation of a brand new law of course.

Alex Edwards played Final Fantasy Online for a few months, then grew tired of the game, which lets you go on monster-battling quests and build up your ranking. His parents Frank and Cinda, who were paying the $13 a month subscription, tried to cancel the account online.
Unfortunately as his parents found out, theres no easy way to disconnect from the service as there is no such online option. Theres no numbers to call either, and it was only after following up on the credit card statements were they able to find a number to call at all. Of course there was the mandatory 1-2 hour wait before they cvould finally talk to a live person. Lets just hope that the guy wasnt in India otherwise the law would have probably made outsourcing illegal too.
Frank Edwards, however is an alderman in Springfield, Illinois and a good friend of his local State Rep. Raymond Poe. So this week Illinois has passed a law that requires all game sites to let subscribers cancel online. Here's the relevant passage from HB4178:
