GTA IV Murder

Posted by Funkyguy on August 12, 2008 4:13 PM

I thought we left the video game inspired killing sprees long into the past. I recall reading about this phenomenon the first time with Mortal Kombat. Apparently things havent improved much. Thailand , where the latest murder occured is in fact so aghast at the violence that the government has asked for the withdrawal of the game from shelves.

Thai newspapers report that the 18 year-old tried to steal the taxi then killed the 54 year-old driver when he fought back. Bangkok Police Capt. Veerarit Pipatansak claims that he wanted to find out if it was as easy in real life to rob a taxi as it was in the game.

Well it doesnt get any more guiltier then that ; the game was obviously at fault. But it seems that this dude had some serious mental problems. If he was unable to differentiate between virtual and real, it was only a matter of time before his imagination led him to do something drastic. Banning one game isnt going to solve anything.
