It finally makes sense. After all those years of Samsung popping out handsets with numbers that made less sense than a computer set to execute the rand() ; the i8510 makes me think that I finally cracked the code. Its got to do with something that the handset will have in / on it. Like the i8510 - the 8 is definitely for the megapixel count.

The camera phone, keyword being camera here is being touted as the Camera Killer. After all, with 8 megapixels at your disposal at any time of the day ; why on earth would you still need to buy a digital camera.
Mind you , I still use a 6 megapixel camera from Olympus and it serves my purpose extremely well. I am told that the Samsung i8510 not just has the megapixel count but it also comes with Wi-Fi, GPS and some exciting camera functions. I really cant any pick any holes out with this one. Even the design is better than the usual clamshell crap thats usually going with Samsungs name.
The display of the Primera will be a 16M color 2.8-inch QVGA one and the handset utilizes the Symbian 9.3 OS with S60 UI. The amount of RAM is 128 MB and there will be a dedicated 3D graphics accelerator. Its too bad they didnt throw in a flash for the camera. While it would have seriously ate up the battery life, the user could have the option of turning it on / off thus basically choosing between a better picture or better battery life.
