Stretchable TVs and Robot Skin

Posted by Funkyguy on August 13, 2008 3:36 PM

Robot-Skin has been developed which will allow the bots to get the all important feelings of pressure, touch and temperature. This brings the robots closer to being human then ever before. Japanese researchers say they have developed a rubber that is able to conduct electricity well. The material is made by grinding carbon nanotubes, or tube-shaped carbon molecules, with an ionic liquid and adding it to rubber.

There are several other applications of this robot skin as well such as use in mattresses which would prevent bed sores for those afflicted by them and stretchable displays - now that would be something worth seeing. Imagine folding up your TV and putting it into the pocket and then opening it up when you need it.
